Ram Trucks Lineup: Good Luck Picking Just One

The Dodge trucks lineup offers something for everyone. Dodge trucks, actually called Ram trucks now, have an incredible range of options, configurations, and the boldest, most rugged designs on the market. The most difficult thing is choosing just one of these Dodge trucks.

Ram trucks have advanced quite far in the past decade. From one of the hottest engine releases in its era, the 5.7-liter HEMI engine with multiple displacement system, to the fuel-sipping EcoDiesel now available in many truck configurations, the technology invested in the Ram truck lineup is nothing short of amazing.

Take the Eco-Diesel engine for example. Currently the only diesel engine option in the light-duty pickup truck lineup, the 3.0-lier V6 Eco-Diesel achieves a phenomenal 29 miles per gallon on the highway. Even the city fuel economy is nothing short of astounding with a 21 mpg EPA rating. All that while giving up very little in the way of accomplishments – a Ram 1500 with the EcoDiesel engine can still tow up to 7,950 pounds and do it more comfortably than all its competitors. It has 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque.

By no means should you turn your nose up at the HEMI engine either. The 5.7-liter HEMI engine has a beastly 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, meaning you’ll never have a shortage of power to get you in and out of trouble. Though not nearly as fuel station-friendly as the EcoDiesel, the HEMI engine still manages to get a respectable 21 miles per gallon on the highway and 15mpg in the city according to EPA calculations.

The Dodge trucks have an available RamBox Cargo Management System. Equipped with the RamBox, you no longer need an 8-foot long truck bed to carry 8-foot long items. With the bed extender in place, your truck can carry a full-size sheet of plywood — actually, lots of them — or 8-foot studs for your latest project. Most quads and snowmobiles fit comfortably in the RamBox system. Let’s not forget the efficient use of space converting the trucks rear quarters into lockable storage bins. It’s a great truck accessory.

Let’s Have a Look at the Dodge Trucks Lineup

Ram 1500 Express

The Ram 1500 Express is your versatile entry-level passenger truck. With the Express, you get a wide array of standard options along with your choice of configurations and options. You can design your Ram 1500 Express as a regular cab, quad cab, or crew cab and with a 6’4” box or 5’7” box. Whatever configuration you choose, you receive 17-inch aluminum wheels, auto headlamps, and a U-Connect connectivity package.

The Express comes standard with the 8-speed Torqueflite transmission regardless of your engine choice. You can pick from the 3.6-liter Pentastar engine or the 5.7-liter HEMI engine, but your choices don’t end there. You can add dual exhaust, RamBox Cargo Management System, a class IV receiver hitch, and even the air-suspension active load leveling package.

Every Ram 1500 Express comes with power windows and locks, but you can truly make your Ram yours with a few simple decisions. You may even want to consider the Special Edition Black Ram 1500 Express that makes a statement with a totally blacked out exterior. Your wheels are semi-gloss black and upgraded to 20-inch, the headlights are black, and all the badges are blacked out as well. It’s quite sharp.

Ram 1500 Big Horn

The Ram 1500 Big Horn is everything that the Express is and more. The Big Horn edition gives you the option to add the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine though the standard engine is the 3.6-liter Pentastar. If you don’t want either the Pentastar or the EcoDiesel, you can opt for the 5.7-liter HEMI engine as well. Each choice gets paired with the 8-speed Torqueflite transmission.

Inside, you get a few extras. There’s an 8.4-inch touchscreen with your UConnect system and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls.

Ram 1500 Rebel

Let’s skip to a standout model, one that breaks the mold. The Rebel edition changes things up more than a bit with totally new styling and capability you’ve only dreamed of. The Ram 1500 Rebel has a unique, bold front grille, rear nameplate and hood louvers. To be honest, everything is unique and bold. The 17-inch rims with aggressive Toyo tires lend credence to the truck’s capabilities.

Up front, RAM is emblazoned in large letters across the grille. In case you didn’t know what it was, RAM is also in large letters on the tailgate. Inside the truck, the Toyo tires used on the outside carry over. The actual tread pattern is used on the seat inserts, another bold statement you won’t find elsewhere. The interior is attractive and sporty. You’ve got blaze red accent stitching on every surface and red accents on the dash, door panels, and seats.

Under the hood, you’ll find the HEMI engine comes as standard equipment with the standard transmission pairing of the 8-speed Torqueflite gearbox. That’s the only engine choice for the Rebel. Anything else just won’t quite cut it.

Ram 1500 Limited

For the ultimate in luxury for your pickup truck, there’s the Ram 1500 Limited. Another bold, unique grille design sets you apart from the lower trim lines. The 12-spoke wheels and the wheel-to-wheel side steps help, too. You’ll proudly boast you drive a Ram truck with the massive chrome “RAM” on the tailgate as well as the name front and center on the chrome grille.

You’ll have nothing but luxury inside, enveloped in comfort and surrounded by posh options. The all-black interior is mostly covered in high-grade leather with soft-touch plastics used everywhere else. Chrome accents punctuate the controls and trim. Dual-zone climate control, heated seats and steering wheel, an Alpine sound system, and every power option including a power sliding sunroof are available on the Limited.

Again, only the powerful HEMI engine and Torqueflite transmission will do for the Ram 1500 Limited. That way you aren’t limited in what you can tow, carry, or do with your truck. It’s one of the best Dodge trucks for sure.
