Jaguar Releases Details on the Explosive XE SV Project 8

MAHWAH, N.J. –After storming into the BMW 3 Series market territory, Jaguar has revealed its super hopped-up XE SV Project 8. It’s the first time the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team has modified the sedan.

The results are extreme. The Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is the most powerful Jaguar has built for the road in history.

Jaguar XE SV Project 8 Details

Up front, know the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 can dash from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 3.3 seconds. A 200-mph top speed ensures this thing can handle the Autobahn with ease. It’s not the fastest four-seater, but it’s close.

Helping achieve these incredible stats is a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. It throttles out a stout 592 horsepower, so touching the pedal should be done with care.

A titanium variable active exhaust should produce a nice growl. All-wheel drive comes standard.

Lightweighting to Perfection

Lightweighting rules the market lately, and Jaguar pushes the boundaries in that area. The XE SV Project 8 wears a vented carbon fiber hood and a carbon fiber rear bumper. There’s also a carbon fiber front bumper with large cooling ducts. 20-inch forged aluminum wheels help shed rotational mass.

Jaguar plans to show off this new car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. That appearance should generate plenty of excitement for this new halo sedan.

“We have really been able to unleash the potential of our engineering and design teams in specifying Project 8,” said SVO Director Mark Stanton.

“We are at the beginning of a very challenging and exciting development program which will see us focus on ensuring Project 8 delivers track performance on a level previously not targeted by Jaguar.”

Hand-Built Customization and Price Tag

Workers at the new SVO Technical Center in the UK assemble each car by hand. For North America, the only configuration available is four seats. That includes race specification front seats, ideal for hot laps. Outside of North America, shoppers can opt for a harness retention loop, for even more protection on the track.

If you want to get your hands on a Jaguar XE SV Project 8, you’ll need luck and a large bank account. Jaguar will limit production to a mere 300 units.

All cars will be left-hand-drive, certainly a surprising move for a British automaker. Pricing should come in at about $200,000, so only well-heeled customers can enjoy the exclusivity.
