General Motors has pulled the curtains off the completely redesigned 2019 GMC Sierra Denali and SLT pickup trucks.

The new Sierra pickup truck comes with a range of new or improved features and technologies, including the industry-first MultiPro Tailgate and an all-new 3.0-liter turbo diesel engine.

2019 GMC Sierra Appearance

The 2019 GMC Sierra sports a new design for the automaker. Strength and refinement are reinforced with a larger, more-dominant upright grille, a taller hood and a more-pronounced take on GMC’s C-shaped lighting signature, according to a release. What’s more, the 2019 GMC Sierra is larger than previous versions in nearly every dimension.

GMC’s front lighting appearance is conveyed through a prominent “light blade.” The feature delivers LED illumination for daytime running lamps. The headlamps, taillamps, fog lamps and other lighting apparatuses also get LEDs.

Interior

The strength-and-refinement combo carries over into the the Sierra Denali’s new interior. Denali-exclusive materials, such as premium leather-appointed seating, authentic wood trim and dark-finish aluminum decor, create a sophisticated atmosphere.

The driver is afforded a higher seating position and the optimized ergonomics emphasize easy, intuitive interaction with the vehicle’s technologies, including the all-new Trailering App and head-up display.

Technology

The 2019 GMC Sierra continues Denali’s strong commitment to incorporating new, purposeful technologies.

Highlights include a segment-first multi-color 3×7 head-up display, a segment-first rear camera mirror, surround vision and a new GMC infotainment platform.

The 2019 GMC Sierra Denali also offers a full range of available advanced safety features, including side blind zone alert, pedestrian detection and low-speed forward automatic braking.

2019 GMC Sierra Performance

The 2019 GMC Sierra gets new versions of the proven 6.2-liter and 5.3-liter V8 engines. An all-new 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel engine expands the powertrain lineup. The new diesel builds on GMC’s expertise with Duramax turbo-diesels offered in Sierra HD and Canyon models.

Both the 6.2-liter and 3.0-liter diesel engines come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Other Truck Features

The 2019 GMC Sierra debuts the company’s new MultiPro Tailgate, which is standard on SLT and Denali trims. The innovative feature has six unique functions and positions, offering better and easier loading and standing workstation options. The MultiPro Tailgate can support a maximum weight of 375 pounds.

Also in the bed, the cargo box offers best-in-class cargo volume at 63 cubic feet on the short box. It also features additional tie downs and an available 110-volt outlet.

Later in the model year, an industry-first carbon fiber box, called the CarbonPro, will be available on the Sierra Denali. It will be 62 pounds lighter than the steel version.

Towing will be made all the more easier with the standard ProGrade Trailering System. The system includes an all-new Trailering App which features a departure checklist, maintenance reminders, light tests, electrical diagnostics and tire pressure monitoring.
