Is bigger really better? When it comes the biggest SUV you can find, it all depends on why you need it. Some car buyers want a vehicle that sits them up nice and tall in traffic. Others need to haul children like a Bluebird school bus. And some simply think finding the biggest SUV makes them a badass.Whatever your reason, these are the 10 biggest SUVs you’ll find in these parts.2017 Chevrolet SuburbanChevy has always had a knack for making things bigger. The Suburban has been the cream of the crop for quite some time in the behemoth SUV segment. Its monstrous interior could span three time zones and requires a long distance calling card for third-row passengers to talk to the driver. The 2017 Chevrolet Suburban has a ridiculously large capacity for cargo, allowing up to 121.7 cubic feet of space behind the front seats, and even 39.3 cu ft. behind the third row.The exterior is large too. It’s essentially a Chevy Silverado with an SUV cab, full frame and all. The Suburban comes with the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, so you can tow like a truck while hauling a cabin full of people.2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS-ClassIf your game needs to bump up a notch, the GLS-Class could be what you need. It’s a mix of cutting-edge technology, luxury and performance, and it has oodles of space to go with it. The interior has Eucalyptus wood trim, multicolor ambient lighting, Easy Entry second row seats, power folding third-row seats, and it has heated and cooled cupholders. And that’s just to start.The cabin itself has 93.8 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded down, which should be enough for any family that can still afford a GLS-Class. What’s most impressive in the GLS-Class is the engine lineup. A 362-hp biturbo 3.0-liter V6, a 449-hp 4.7-liter biturbo V8, or a 577-hp 5.5-liter biturbo AMG V8 are all available. Tow up to 7,500 pounds with any of those engines.2017 Nissan ArmadaThe Nissan Armada is a great middle ground between utility and luxury. Let’s call it premium class. It looks way better now than its previous generation, having actual curves and such with bits of chrome. Each one has a 5.6-liter V8 with 390 horsepower and drinks pump fuel faster than Barney bellied up to the bar. Definitely not one of the most fuel efficient SUVs out there.The Armada can be modestly equipped with normal power functions and a few extras like Rear Sonar, Bose Audio and Navigation, up to its full-tilt Platinum package with tri-zone Entertainment system and auto climate control among others. The cabin size is the same in any case, with a total of 95.4 cubic feet. There’s a downside, though – with the second and third-row seats up, cargo space is trimmed to only 16.5 cubic feet.2017 Ford Expedition ELIt’s long in the tooth where looks come into play. The Ford Expedition EL (meaning Extended Length) is rather boring to look at and doesn’t have the wow factor inside. Just one engine choice is available, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and it comes in either 2WD or 4WD. But it’s not meant to go off-road per se, and it probably won’t see towing duty often either.It’s a people carrier and a cargo hauler, and it can do both at the same time. That’s thanks to its spacious interior, holding 130.8 cubic feet of cargo behind the front seats, which makes it the biggest SUV in that category. Even with all three rows of seating upright, there’s still 42.3 cubic feet of cargo volume to use. If you don’t need bells and whistles, the Expedition EL is quite sufficient.2017 Toyota SequoiaThere’s only one monster SUV that has all the vowels in its name (the jury is out on ‘Y’ still), and that’s the Sequoia. Count them, they’re all there. As if that’s not enough claim to fame, the Toyota Sequoia is one of the the 10 biggest SUVs out there today. Looking at the Sequoia and the Tundra side by side, you can see where the SUV has its heritage.Inside, the 2017 Toyota Sequoia is well-appointed but not overdone. Entune Audio, an available rear-seat entertainment package, available leather interior and some fantastic Toyota driver assist features are found inside. That goes along with the 120.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seat, which is impressive. Unfortunately, great leg space for all rear-seat passengers trims down on cargo capacity behind the third row, coming in at just 18.9 cubic feet.2017 Cadillac Escalade ESVIf the Chevrolet Suburban doesn’t do it for you, look for the Escalade ESV on the Caddy lot. It’s much the same vehicle but improved in virtually every category. The engine is a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower, and all those fancy GM options that are available on the Chevy are standard on the Escalade ESV.Between the doors of the 2017 Cadillac Escalade ESV, you’ll find nearly the exact same measurements. The Escalade ESV has 120.7 cubic feet of total cargo volume with the seats down and 39.3 cubic feet behind the third row. It's not the biggest SUV, but it's close.With volume like that, the exterior has to be a dominating presence. For Cadillac, the Escalade ESV has a striking image and looming size wherever it goes.2017 Lexus LX 570It’s another large premium SUV to choose from. The Lexus LX 570 is a killer on and off the road, containing an extremely capable standard 4WD system and 383-horsepower engine. Amenities inside include a widescreen dashtop panel and an exotic appearance that rivals the Germans. But that’s not what we’re here for.The 2017 Lexus LX 570 has tons of interior space, although not as much as the others. It has 83 cubc feet of interior cargo space with the rear seats folded, but not much of anything with the rear seat up. If you plan on leaving the pavement though, this should be your choice in the 10 biggest SUVs.2017 Infiniti QX80It’s the luxury edition of the Nissan Armada, almost exactly. It wouldn’t be a stretch to think the Armada is a dumbed-down version of the Infiniti QX80. It has 400 horsepower from a 5.6-liter V8 and adds more standard features like an Around View Monitor, navigation and Bose audio system.Even the interior specs are within a fraction of the Armada. The interior cargo volume behind the front seats is 95.1 cubic feet and behind the third row is 16.6 cubic feet. The slight difference could even be the result of more plush materials like premium leather and high-grade woods.2017 Lincoln Navigator LWhile everyone is anxiously awaiting the release of the 2018 Lincoln Navigator, the 2017 Navigator L is no slouch. It’s the sexy version of the Ford Expedition, sure, but that speaks volumes to buyers. The Navigator L shares the same 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and the optional Control Trac 4WD system, but it’s way nicer inside. Gorgeous creamy leather, SYNC 3, dual headrest DVD system and driver assist technologies are standard, not simply available.Space-wise, the 2017 Lincoln Navigator L is awesome. Behind the front seats, there’s 128.2 cubic feet of cargo space and 42.6 cubic feet behind the third row - just a few feet shy of being the biggest SUV. It’s one of the most spacious inside, and that means the exterior must be grandiose as well.2017 Mercedes-Benz G-ClassDouble down with the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV. No, seriously. You’ll be paying twice as much for this hog than any of the others. It’s the king of SUV-land because it’s notoriously overbuilt. A hand-welded ladder frame, three locking differentials, bulletproof 4WD system, and your choice of three outstanding engines keep it surreal.Inside, the G-Class is notably handbuilt. It takes more than 40 hours to assemble the G-Class from start to finish, and that includes hand-stitched seams, wiring harnesses, and the best technology and features Mercedes offers.Behind the rear seat, there’s 38.5 cubic feet of cargo space, and a total of 79.5 cubic feet with the seat folded down. It’s not the highest cargo number, but that’s balanced by its overall presence and power. It can be equipped with up to 621 horsepower and a 0 to 60 time of 5.2 seconds.
