Not many of us ever get to own the top luxury sedans in the world. It’s a perk that only the crème de la crème get to experience. But although we won’t be parking a quarter-million-dollar car in our garages, the appreciation for fine machinery still runs deep. If nothing else, we love to at least be able to identify the difference between a Bentley and a Rolls-Royce when one drives past while vacationing on South Beach.

The top luxury sedans for 2018 have been trickling out, and they are nothing short of astounding. If you don’t have to wipe drool from the corner of your mouth, are you really a gearhead? We’ve compiled a list of the best luxury cars for 2018 to dream about. Enjoy!

2018 Tesla Model S

It’s safe to say electric cars are no longer the future but the present. The 2018 Tesla Model S is essentially the same car as the 2017 model year but with a few small changes. First, it’s more mainstream than ever, and thanks to Tesla, electric car technology is rocketing ahead. Secondly, the Tesla Model S is getting more luxurious at its entry level.

Tesla just announced that the entry-level 2018 Tesla Model S P75D is to be discontinued. It will be the Model S P85D to get you started, and that’s a lot to handle.

As luxury sedans go, the 2018 Tesla Model S is a non-traditional take on elegance. Its appearance is sporty and futuristic and the interior follows suit. It’s a luxury sedan on the premise that it’s built with precise attention to detail and exceptional performance. Premium leather seating is standard along with all the power amenities you could want. The massive screen in the center console is as large as a television, and self-driving features are just a step away. You won’t find better performance in a car of this size, style or price peeling pavement with acceleration of 3.2 seconds zero to 60.

2018 Audi S8

So, maybe you want something more business class that still performs incredibly well? It sounds like you need the 2018 Audi S8. When the Audi S8 pulls up to the door, it looks like a slick luxury sedan that might have a chauffeur open the door for a hotshot in the backseat. But like all great luxury cars, you’re more likely to want to drive it than just relax in the back.

The 2018 Audi S8 is such an animal. The sport luxury exterior is astounding on its own, but under the hood is the real beast. It’s a 4.0-liter TFSI V8 that’s been turbocharged for 605 horsepower. With its advanced Quattro all-wheel-drive system, you’ll need only 3.7 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour.

On the inside, the Audi S8 is just as impressive. With Audi connect, a 4G LTE wi-fi hotspot, head-up display, navigation, LED lighting, carbon fiber accents, and premium leather interior upholstery, you’ll find the 2018 Audi S8 as comfortable as it is fun to drive.

2018 Bentley Flying Spur

It’s one of the symbols of wealth and automotive appreciation. The 2018 Bentley Flying Spur is a head-turner as a luxury model, and it’s simply thrilling to drive. Let’s start on the outside, shall we?

The Bentley silhouette is immediately recognizable with the Flying Spur. Absolutely immaculate fit and finish is guaranteed, from the chrome-trimmed tail lamp assemblies and front fender louvers to the traditional Bentley grille design. Neatly tied into the design are sporty innuendos like gorgeous wheels and perfect aerodynamics.

Then, on the interior, it’s a unique experience. It feels conflicting at first – why is the upholstery so different, and not just a plain fancy leather-wrapped setting? There are two-tone leathers all over, actual wood inset into the dash, doors and console, and buttons for everything. The use of round chrome accents is quite nice, and the comfort level is beyond what you can even imagine. Backseat passengers get the same treatment as the front – you know, in case someone famous hops into the back seat.

All this style and luxury is heavy. At over 5,300 pounds, you’d expect it to be sluggish. But that’s not the case with the 2018 Bentley Flying Spur. The 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 engine makes 500 horsepower and sends 487 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels, bringing acceleration specs in at 4.2 seconds 0 to 60 mph.

2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom

For over 90 years Rolls-Royce has used the Phantom name in its lineup. This one is clearly the pinnacle of the range…so far. The 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom has the impeccable elegance and the ultra-premium features the discerning buyer demands at over $400,000. That’s followed up with ravishing performance.

The classic Phantom grille – tall, slender spokes finished in chrome – along with the Rolls-Royce Flying Lady hood ornament are the first thing you see. The squared body is softened in all the right places. You can tell the quality hasn’t dropped off. It’s still hand-built after all these years.

It’s a simply stunning interior. You can opt for the LED starlit headliner, even going so far as getting a bespoke constellation headliner made. Everything on the inside is covered in leather or lambswool, including the floor mats, and hard pieces are finished in piano black and chrome. The rear seat is as awe-inspiring as the front with an available wine cooler and massaging heated and cooled seats. Umbrellas are tucked into the door sills, in case it rains.

The 2018 Rolls-Royce Phantom packs a punch with its 6.75-liter V12 engine. It makes 563 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. But the power isn’t there because you need it – it’s there because it can be.

2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio

This is the luxury car that should be making a splash very soon. The 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (QF for short) is the top-end trim for the Giulia model. Aside from its looks, it’s very nearly a different car altogether.

The looks are stunning, although some might not agree. If you like a traditional front end, the Giulia QF won’t be your taste. A sleek sports luxury car, the Giulia makes an appeal to the more mainstream brands’ buyers, like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But you can’t tell me those wheels aren’t sexy, or I’ll fight you.

The inside is well-equipped and visually appealing. Carbon fiber accents, Nappa leather and Alcantara wrap the seats and door panels. You can choose an accent color for interior trim to compliment the outside paint. Unlike some of the other models, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is definitely a car you’ll want to drive, and drive it you will!

That’s because under the hood is a leviathan that lays low until it’s ready to strike. Its 505 horsepower are class-leading and propels the car to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 191 miles per hour, and has run the Nurburgring in just 7 minutes 32 seconds. For those who don’t know, that’s fast. It starts at just $72,000, so it’s one of the more affordable luxury cars too.

2018 Cadillac CTS-V

Built for both performance and luxury, the 2018 Cadillac CTS-V is much the same as the previous model year. It’s a luxury sedan that’s designed to absolutely and completely thrill occupants from every angle.

It starts with the appearance. The 2018 Cadillac CTS-V is a looker, with a functional hood scoop, LED fog lights that transition up into the headlight assemblies, and a slight arc in the beltline that gives an overly athletic look to the sedan. A tiny trunk lip spoiler accentuates the back end too.

The interior is definitely inspired by GM, but at a higher level. Good quality leather wraps seats, which are available both heated and cooled. Cadillac CUE is the infotainment system, and it’s substantially better than most. But to be brutally honest, this car is truly about the performance.

It gets a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that spits out 640 horsepower and goes beyond 200 mph. It accelerates from a stop to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Its handling is dominant with Magnetic Ride Control. You’ll love it, I just know it.

2018 Mercedes-AMG S63

It’s a race-bred car that is a top luxury sedan for 2018. Anything with AMG in the name gets a vote from me. For 2018, the Mercedes-AMG S63 gets even more special.

As an S-Class Mercedes, the exterior looks like a premium sedan that should be driven by a man with a top hat. It just oozes of elegance. It’s a rich person’s car. Yet, it’s slung low to the ground and has aggressive touches like quad exhaust tips, so you know it’s more than just a business car.

Then, on the interior, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG S63 gives you the royal treatment. The dash and infotainment screen is monumentally wide, stretching most of the way across the front. Head-up display is standard, as is every power feature in the book. Comfort is a guarantee with meticulously sculpted seats with heating, cooling and massage available. And then there’s the engine…

For 2018, the S63 uses a hand-built V8 that makes 603 horsepower. Matched with an award-winning AWD system, this massive luxury sedan still accomplishes the 0-to-60 sprint in 3.4 seconds.

2018 BMW 7 Series

Starting at just $83,000, the 2018 BMW 7 Series is a fan favorite in the luxury sedan segment. It might look a little understated at first with very typical Bimmer features, although it’s a stretched-out wheelbase. But that sentiment is quickly overtaken when you see what awaits.

Once you get inside, everything changes. The BMW 7 Series makes every drive an experience. The driver gets a clean, elegant cockpit with woodgrain and leather, and all the comfort in the world is afforded here. The iDrive 6.0 infotainment system has gesture control. The cabin can be preconditioned remotely. And the 7 Series sedan can be parked remotely with the Display Key.

In the back, the passengers are well cared for also. A center console tablet controls comfort and entertainment functions for the dual seat-back screens. And there’s leg space…so much leg space.

It’s a blast to drive, if that’s what you want it for. The 2018 BMW 740i is standard with a 3.0-liter inline-six with 322 horsepower. However, the M760i is a different animal, making 601 horsepower from its biturbo V12.  It’s capable of 0 to 60 in just 3.6 seconds.

2018 Jaguar XJ

Fancy a Jag? The 2018 Jaguar XJ is your kind of kitty cat. It’s a beautiful sedan with the Jaguar heritage built into every facet on the outside. The oval chrome-mesh grille and traditional shape give it away. But on the inside, it’s unlike previous Jaguar generations.

The blue ambient LED lighting that’s available is spectacular. Diamond-stitched leather seating and a classy console are truly wonderful. And while the console and steering wheel are riddled with buttons, it’s fully equipped with all the tools you need for an awesome experience.

The XJ has a trick up its sleeve with its powerful engine. Unlike some other flagship models, it’s lighter and more nimble, making the drive extremely enjoyable. It has a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 470 horsepower tucked under the hood, but surprisingly, its 0-60 time is 4.7 seconds. That could use improvement, but the car itself is amazing.

2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo

Some might feel like the Panamera is a bastardized Porsche. To each their own, but the Porsche Panamera earns its way into the top luxury sedans of 2018 on merits. Stylistically, it’s individual. And performance-wise, it runs really strong.

The 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo with its stubby back end isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. The silhouette takes some getting used to, but the Porsche front end is immediately familiar and loveable. It’s low-slung like you’d expect from a Porsche and handles like a rocket on rails.

Inside, your $150,000 gets you comfortable 14-way power adjustable seats, Bose Surround Sound with Connect Plus, smooth-finish leather, paddle shifters, and all the standard electrical components you demand at this price point.

Performance is precisely what you expect from Porsche, and the Panamera Turbo delivers. With 550 horsepower and all-wheel-drive, the Panamera Turbo races to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Its top speed is 190 miles per hour, should the need arise in a luxury sedan.
